Heat‑of‑Compression (HOC) Desiccant Dryers

HC Series

Energy‑efficient desiccant drying for oil‑free compressed air systems

The Gardner Denver HC Series heat‑of‑compression (HOC) dryers are designed for industrial applications requiring very low pressure dew points with minimal operating cost. By recovering thermal energy generated during oil‑free compression, HC dryers provide continuous, reliable drying without the need for external regeneration heaters.

The result is a robust, low‑energy solution for large compressed air systems where performance, stability and efficiency are essential.

Extremely low operating cost

HC Series dryers use the available heat of compression to regenerate the desiccant. This eliminates electrical heater demand and significantly reduces overall energy consumption.

Consistent dry air quality

The drying process delivers stable pressure dew points of –40°C or lower, protecting downstream equipment and ensuring process reliability.

Minimal compressed air loss

The regeneration and cooling cycle is designed to keep purge air usage to a minimum, improving overall system efficiency.

Proven, industrial design

With a simple dual‑tower configuration and long‑life components, HC dryers are engineered for continuous operation in demanding environments.

Reduced environmental impact

Low energy demand and reduced compressed air loss contribute directly to lower CO₂ emissions and reduced lifecycle costs.

Heat‑of‑compression regeneration

HC dryers recover waste heat generated during the compression process and reuse it to regenerate the desiccant. This principle delivers reliable drying performance with no additional thermal energy input under normal operating conditions.

Dual‑tower desiccant system

Two desiccant vessels operate in alternating cycles, ensuring uninterrupted supply of dry compressed air.

Controlled cooling and stripping

A dedicated cooling and stripping phase stabilises desiccant performance and prevents dew point fluctuation.

Integrated control system

The dryer is equipped with a PLC‑based control system for monitoring operational status and supporting efficient system management.

System‑level flexibility

HC Series dryers are suitable for installations with multiple oil‑free compressors feeding a common header, supporting scalable system layouts.
