Air Compressor Oil - AEON Lubricants

Gardner Denver AEON Lubricants are mineral oil based and full synthetic lubricants formulated for superior performance in multiple operating environments. You can achieve the best performance an highest efficiency with our air compressor oil. These are the only factory tested, approved and recommended lubricants for Gardner Denver Compressors. Gardner Denver recommends using only AEON lubricants in our oil lubricated rotary compressors and reciprocating compressors.

What kind of oil goes in an air compressor?

An oil lubricated rotary screw compressor can't operate effectively without proper lubrication. The oil in this type of compressor cycles hundreds, even thousands, of times daily. It absorbs the heat caused by compression and is cooled before being reused. The oil is sheared by the rotors as it seals the rotor clearances.

Failure to properly lubricate a reciprocating compressor leads to friction causing parts to wear down. The best type of reciprocating compressor oil depends on whether you are compressing air or gas and required discharge pressure.

Always use the proper type of oil including the proper weight and grade of lubricant, as specified by the manufacturer. Also, follow recommended change intervals to prevent oil breakdown, which causes increased wear.

Synthetic lubricants are recommended by most manufacturers for compressed air system applications.

Synthetic lubricants may cost 4-8 times more than conventional petroleum-based lubricants. Improved operating efficiency, extended drain intervals, increased safety due to a higher flash point, and decreased maintenance offset this increased cost.

Finally, with the increased concern for the environment, the disposal of lubricants is being regulated. Synthetic lubricants have less handling problems and costs due to their less frequent change interval.
