POSILOCK BLUE


EMCO Wheaton’s PosiLock Blue is a DEF system that builds on the strengths of the widely used and successful PosiLock 105. This dispensing tool eliminates the risk of mixing DEF/AdBlue with diesel fuel – a problem that has emerged with the introduction of stricter emissions standards and wider use of selective catalytic reduction technology.

Users benefit from a dry-break disconnect coupling that eliminates spillages and an automatic shut off mechanism that supports unattended fueling. Much like the 105, this product is widely used by operators of diesel transit buses.

The PosiLock Blue DEF system consists of a durable nozzle and an accompanying adaptor that is connected to the onboard DEF/AdBlue tank. It operates the same way as the industry recognised PosiLock 105 system, providing a clean and safe working environment.

 

Contamination of a DEF/AdBlue with diesel is a serious issue that can not only damage a vehicle’s engine but also cause explosions, as such it’s vital to ensure both mediums are kept apart. This is done through the PosiLock Blue’s selective interface that is unable to be interchanged with any other fuel system.

 

Other benefits include dry-break disconnect couplings that eliminate spillages, automatic shut off that permits unattended operation and a vacuum shut off mechanism that protects the tank from exposure to positive pressure. Like the PosiLock 105, this product also has a pre-set level to guarantee filling is consistent and protects against theft as no access is possible without an active connection.

 

This system is an ideal retrofit solution as it requires no cutting or dropping tanks. Better still, no new training is required if users are familiar with the PosiLock 105 refueling system. Materials of all wetted components comply with ISO 22241 requirements.

Nozzle PosiLock Blue nozzles weigh just 1.35kg (3 lbs) and have a flow rate up to 38 litres/min (10 US gallons/min). The nozzle is connected to the adaptor using a bayonet-style, twist-on interface.

Adaptor The PosiLock Blue’s adaptor is made of thermoplastic polymer and is connected to the onboard DEF/AdBlue tank. A sensing tube extends into the tank and is pre-set to provide a determined fill level. Standard adaptors are equipped with 316 stainless steel flanges, Viton seals and come with mounting hardware. However, much like any of our products, these parts can be customised to suit any application.

This product is mainly used by operators of transit buses. However, its straightforward design and simple installation means it can be used wherever there is a need to eliminate the risk of fuel contamination and human errors. This includes the rail and off-road sectors – both heavy users of diesel.

The PosiLock Blue DEF system is designed to be durable and will only need maintenance if components have been significantly damaged. For general wear and tear, EMCO Wheaton offers OEM spares and repair kits with all required parts for in-field servicing.
