The low-energy, oil-lubricated rotary vane vacuum pump can reach 1200 m³/hr. The proven design guarantees stable and reliable operation and delivers high efficiency and low energy consumption, alongside simple maintenance, to provide the required levels of vacuum for the operating room.

The pump’s operation is extremely smooth, with low noise levels with the bearings running for up to 40,000 hours without replacement.

Developing the solution

The Elmo Rietschle medical vacuum system includes vacuum suction, to absorb bodily fluids during surgery and an anaesthetic gas discharge system for the operating room. Using sophisticated electronic control, the anaesthetic exhaust gas is discharged through a vacuum pipeline to a sterilisation filter and then stored in a vacuum storage chamber.

In addition, the operating room’s dedicated anaesthesia gas discharge system is used to collect anaesthesia waste in the operating room. The system consists of a gas terminal, a vacuum line, a filter, a pressure control valve, a vacuum pump, an exhaust line and an electrical control cabinet.

For example, the Shanghai Putuo District Central Hospital is equipped with an Elmo Rietschle maintenance-free claw pump. As well as offering high energy efficiency, the pump chamber has no oil and frictionless operation, and the service life is long, providing easy and maintenance-free operation.

At the Shanghai Renji Hospital, the operating room’s anaesthetic gas discharge system uses an Elmo Rietschle oil-free rotary vane vacuum pump with integrated suction gas filter for low noise and improved cooling performance. This prevents the operator from accidentally touching any hot surfaces while the pump is running.
