ILS offers many kinds of glass syringes for various uses and applications. Below you find more information regarding the different kinds of syringes, needle types and seal materials. ILS also provides customized syringe designs for your application with a broad range of materials.
Our product range focuses on two type of glass syringes – syringes for use in syringe pumps and syringes for analytical instruments and applications.
ILS offers glass syringes for syringe pumps that are part of liquid handling instruments. These syringes are industry standard and hence compatible with all common syringe pumps from different manufacturers. The volume size for these syringes ranges from 0.5 ml up to 12.5 ml.
These syringes are used in instruments for analytical applications such as gas and liquid chromatography or mass spectrometry. They are usually equipped with a needle and the volume size ranges from 100µL to 5ml.
You can choose between two needle types – fixed or removable.
Removable needle: The needle can be removed and replaced by a new one in case the needle is bended or damaged. These syringes are autoclavable.
Fixed needle: The needle is attached to the glass barrel and cannot be removed. These syringes are not autoclavable, but have the least carryover.
There are also different tip styles you can choose from depending on the requirements of your application.
The seal provides leak-proof sealing between the plunger and the syringe barrel. Depending on the medium you are using in the syringe, ILS offers different types of seal materials that you can choose from with different kinds of chemical resistance and abrasiveness.
Series N – Standard Glass Syringes for Liquids
The most popular plunger is used for a liquid dispensing and made from stainless steel.
It is exceptionally tightly fitted into the glass barrel what is the desired solution for dispensing liquids. The stainless steel plunger rod is well-mounted in the barrel, to allow for exact dosing. It is fixed and thus cannot be replaced.
Series H – Gas Tight Microsyringes
H series features seals made from PTFE or PE.
The PTFE is a standard seal material. It is most commonly known as Teflon® or polytetrafluorethylene. PTFE plunger topping provides a gas tight sealing for the headspace, which makes it applicable for dispensing both liquids and gas.
PE-HD Seals provide better durability than PTFE when working with salty solutions. High-density polyethylene is well-known for its low coefficient of friction which provides smooth operations. HDPE materials durability against impact and abrasion.
Series P –Microsyringes with Adjustable seal
For gas chromatography and HPLC valves, ILS delivers syringes with adjustable PTFE seals. They are equipped with screws that enable regulation of seal-pressure. Adjustable PTFE seals give the user control over increasing or decreasing of the seal pressure according to dosage requirements.
Series G – Microsyringes with an additional seal at the topping
For applications and equipment that requires dosage under counter pressures, ILS provides Static PTFE-Seal at the top of the glass barrel for an additional seal at the topping.
Series T - Zero Dead Volume Microsyringes
Whenever a superior accuracy in a small dosage of liquid is required, a syringe with zero dead volume design is the best solution. In the T series plunger also runs inside the needle, allowing for dosage as low as 1 microliter.
Series SN / SH – Glass Syringes with extended handle
Specialized construction of the plunger prevents the content from being heated by the hand of the user. The plunger rod is designed in a way that protects it from bending. SH and SN series find application for gas chromatography and HPLC valves
