A progressive cavity pump is a type of positive displacement pump that produces smooth, even flow at relatively low pressures. It creates flow by turning a rotor which moves fluid through a sequence of discrete cavities.
Typical applications include transferring highly viscous liquids and liquids with significant amounts of solids, such as cement or sand slurry. Progressive cavity pumps are also known as progressing cavity pumps and eccentric screw pumps.
